Press Release July 2009

GolfSafe changes name to ClubSafe; expands services to include Golf and Country Clubs, Yacht Clubs, Athletic and Fitness Clubs, Gated Communities and Resort Properties.

Manchester, Mass., July 22, 2009 — ClubSafe, Inc., the leading provider of emergency planning, equipment, communications and training for golf and country clubs in the U.S., is expanding its services to include yacht clubs, athletic and fitness clubs, gated communities and resort properties.

ClubSafe has been developing and implementing emergency plans as GolfSafe for the past 10 years at leading golf and country clubs throughout the country. Last year, it created emergency response programs for yacht clubs, athletic clubs and resorts, as more managers are aware of the responsibility their club has in an emergency.  The company recently changed its name from GolfSafe to ClubSafe as demand for its program expanded beyond the golf community.

“We’re changing our name to better reflect the broader range of private clubs that we service,” said Patrick Roselli, president of ClubSafe, “While each type of club has unique challenges, the goals are the same: be prepared, be organized and have a plan to respond instantly with trained and equipped staff.”  The direct benefit for the staff is having increased confidence to handle any type of emergency that may arise. Annual practice drills reinforce the club’s plan in a very real, yet practical manner.

“Club Managers are responsible for every detail of operations but most managers do not have the time or expertise needed for emergency planning and ensuring equipment readiness,” said Roselli, “Emergency planning and training is our business, it’s a professional choice for the club.”

While it can take up to 8 minutes for an ambulance to arrive at any club, the medical care given to that member or guest during those minutes is the club’s responsibility. How the staff responds during those critical few minutes can mean the difference between life and death.

In the case of cardiac arrest, irreversible brain death occurs in four to six minutes if no CPR or defibrillation is provided during that time. Every minute elapsed without using an automated external defibrillator (AED) reduces survival rate by 10%.  After 8 minutes, survival rates are about 5%.
Many clubs have AEDs on site. What they lack, however, is staff organized to respond instantly, a coordinated communications plan to get help to the member, mock drills and annual refresher courses for staff.

General managers contact ClubSafe to develop an emergency program tailored to their specific environment.  “Some of the finest golf and country clubs in the country use us to create an emergency response plan, not just for heart attacks but for falls, equipment accidents, building evacuation, food allergies, and any emergency that occurs.” said Roselli, “They recognize their responsibility to their members.”

ClubSafe creates the foundation for an organized and rehearsed response so that the club’s staff can offer valuable assistance during the critical first few minutes of a medical emergency. When time is of the essence, having a property-wide emergency response plan in place can make all of the difference for someone in need, according to Roselli.

“I’ve visited clubs and noticed the AED still in the box on a shelf in the manager’s office.  The AED is not ready for use, a responsibility of the club.  Defending this lack of oversight would be challenging if not impossible,” said Roselli.

ClubSafe maintains a database of all of the AEDs and medical supplies for each club, even down to the expiration date of AED batteries.

As a Fitness Director and Certified Athletic Trainer, I understand the importance of having a professional, simple and thorough Emergency Procedure Plan. The safety of our 3,000 adult members and 1,000 child members is of the utmost importance to our business. ClubSafe has taken our initial Emergency Procedure Plan and taken it to a level we could not have done ourselves. Not only has this professionally tailored plan given our staff reassurance on what to do in the event of an emergency on any aspect of our 85 acre property, but also it has given our membership the confidence that in the event of an emergency they are safe and in good hands with our professionally trained staff.
